Winter Newsletter 2015

Well I really cannot believe we are nearly at the end of 2015, I know everyone says it ........... But where has that year gone!

What a great year we have had at the Ice Pod, it has been filled with more highs than lows and the atmosphere, as always has been filled with excitement and smiles as befitting an ice cream parlour!

We have continued to grow and have started to work together with some pretty amazing customers including the fantastic South West Scott Cinema Group. We are even sending the ice creams to their cinema in East Grinstead.

I personally have started to visit my local Scott Cinema in Exmouth and I cannot recommend it enough. If you are lucky enough to have an independent cinema where you live then pay them a visit and I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

We are also really happy to be supplying our local theatres. The Brewhouse is going from strength to strength hosting a wide variety of shows and the number of people enjoying a Granny Gothards when they are there is growing month on month. The smaller Ilminster theatre is another regular customer and their visitors are even getting to enjoy a Bailey's ice cream this Christmas!

We had another great year supplying the National Trust at Dunster Castle and Stourhead and we hope to add more properties next year. The feedback from their visitors was great and they especially seemed to like the Lavender Ice Cream although Honeycomb was still the best seller.

We are increasing the number of restaurants and hotels we supply and we continue to grow with our distributor La Chasse, we are moving into the Cotswolds soon, keep a look out for the La Chasse salesman coming to an establishment near you!

If you follow of us on Twitter, @grannygothards you will see that we give a pot of ice cream to anyone who scores a try for @ExeterChiefs rugby team. This is purely indulgent on my part and I make no excuse for it, come on ladies you would too! I am sure it has nothing to do with the ice cream incentive but we are currently 2nd in the Premiership so maybe it is!

Our biggest change this year has been that we have started to export the ice cream to warmer climates. Filled with challenges, we have all met these head on and I must thank my amazing staff their tireless energy and enthusiasm that has enabled us to enter this market.

I am a founding member of the South West Food Group, set up to highlight all the best from the South West to the rest of the world, wow we have some amazing food products right here on our doorstep. Thanks to UKTI for all their support and encouragement.

We are well on our way with our expansion to ensure we are able to stay at the ice pod as we continue to grow and again thanks to the great guys Adam and James at KC Cooling, cannot recommend them highly enough.

On a personal note I became a Grandma when my beautiful Grandson Oliver arrived on September 6th. When he arrived kicking into the world I realised that things would never be quite the same again and I can now understand what my friends, who were already grandparents mean when they describe how they feel!!

And the other bit of news for those of you who remember Jean, the other granny, well she also became a grandma at the end of November, so the question we used to be asked.......... So who is the Granny ........ Well we both are!

And finally.......

We would like to wish all our customer, suppliers and supporters and fantastic festive season and a 2016 that brings you health, happiness and joy and of course as much Granny Gothards Ice Cream as you want!

With all our very best wishes,

Granny Gothards
